Senior Programmable Logic Design Engineer
Location: United States (Remote)
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Programmable Logic Design Engineer to join a team developing safety-critical digital systems. This role is focused heavily on Model-Based Design using MATLAB and Simulink, with responsibility for translating system requirements into executable models, generating HDL, and supporting FPGA implementation and verification activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers who enjoy working at the intersection of systems engineering, modeling, verification, and programmable logic development.
Responsibilities
Develop programmable logic requirements from system-level requirements and specifications.
Create and maintain Simulink models for digital logic and control functions.
Apply reusable platform libraries and framework components to project-specific applications.
Develop verification test cases and model-based test harnesses.
Perform model verification and validation activities.
Generate HDL using HDL Coder and perform co-simulation activities.
Support FPGA implementation, optimization, synthesis, place-and-route, and timing analysis.
Maintain requirements traceability between specifications, models, HDL, and verification artifacts.
Participate in design reviews and technical assessments.
Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, and verification teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
5+ years of experience developing FPGA, ASIC, or programmable logic solutions.
Strong MATLAB and Simulink experience.
Experience with Model-Based Design methodologies.
Experience developing verification strategies and test environments.
Understanding of FPGA development flows and hardware validation.
Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Stateflow experience.
HDL Coder experience.
FPGA development experience with AMD/Xilinx, Intel (Altera), or Microchip/Microsemi devices.
Digital Signal Processing (DSP) experience.
Requirements traceability experience.
Experience in safety-critical or highly regulated environments.
Familiarity with NQA-1, aerospace, defense, transportation, medical device, or industrial control development processes.
Technologies
Model-Based Design
MATLAB
Simulink
Stateflow
HDL Coder
FPGA Development
VHDL
Verilog
SystemVerilog
Vivado
