Job Title: Lead Solutions & Design Engineer (Data Center BAS / Cooling)
Location: Remote (Must be based in the US)
Travel: Project-based (as required)
The Opportunity
If you’re a controls engineer who wants to actually design systems (plant behaviour, sequences, strategy), not fix them at the back end of projects, this is worth a look.
I’m hiring for a global automation business building out its US data center function. Backed platform. Serious investment. Real opportunity to shape how controls are delivered at scale.
Salary: $165,000 – $220,000 (depending on strength)
Perks: Bonus + 0.25% project override + strong benefits + real upside tied to impact
The Role
You’ll sit at the front of data center controls projects, owning design and helping define how systems behave before they ever hit site.
What you’ll be doing day-to-day:
Own BAS / BMS control strategy across chilled water plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, and hydronic distribution
Develop sequences of operation from first principles (not just edits to existing logic)
Translate mechanical design into real system behaviour under load, pressure, and flow conditions
Support preconstruction and define technical scope before projects are won
Stay involved through commissioning, validation, and performance troubleshooting
Act as a technical authority with clients, engineers, and delivery teams
This is not a commissioning clean-up role.
Key Requirements (Must-Haves)
Strong experience in data center or mission critical BAS / controls environments
Deep understanding of chilled water systems, plant behaviour, and cooling strategy
Ability to write sequences of operation from first principles
Experience across design, commissioning, and troubleshooting
Comfortable operating in front of clients and senior stakeholders
Nice to Haves
Exposure to PLC / SCADA environments (Rockwell, Siemens, etc.)
Experience building standards, libraries, or repeatable design approaches
Multi-vendor BAS experience (Niagara, Schneider, Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Distech, etc.)
Employment is subject to background check.
