About the Role
This role leads the organization’s quality function and plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of our products. As Lead QA Engineer, you will guide a multidisciplinary QA team while partnering closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to embed quality throughout design, development, and release cycles.
The successful candidate is both a people leader and a hands-on quality expert—comfortable setting strategy while staying close to execution across software, cloud, mobile, and IoT platforms.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Team Leadership & Operations
Direct the day-to-day activities of the QA team, ensuring work aligns with business priorities and delivery timelines.
Recruit, coach, mentor, and evaluate QA team members to build a high-performing and engaged group.
Establish clear expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and drive professional growth within the team.
Promote ethical conduct and adherence to company standards across all QA practices.
Quality Ownership & Strategy
Define and own quality standards, processes, and acceptance criteria across all product lines.
Drive a unified quality strategy spanning hardware, firmware, wireless IoT, mobile applications, backend services, databases, and AWS-based infrastructure.
Ensure quality considerations are integrated at every stage of the product lifecycle—from concept through launch and post-release.
Lead risk evaluations and implement mitigation plans to reduce quality and reliability issues.
Testing Practices & Technical Scope
Oversee manual and automated testing efforts, including functional, regression, performance, load, and security testing.
Guide end-to-end testing for complex, distributed systems involving cloud services, mobile platforms, and proprietary IoT devices.
Ensure strong test coverage by leveraging knowledge of system architecture, data models, infrastructure layers, and client applications.
Evaluate, select, and roll out new QA tools and methodologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Measurement, Reporting & Improvement
Track and analyze defect trends, test execution progress, and product quality metrics.
Provide regular status reports and KPI updates on quality and reliability to senior leadership (bi-weekly).
Lead root cause investigations and drive corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain detailed and accurate quality artifacts, including test plans, execution reports, and defect documentation.
Collaboration & Compliance
Act as a key partner to engineering, product management, operations, and customer support teams.
Incorporate customer and stakeholder feedback into continuous quality improvements.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, internal policies, and industry best practices.
Coordinate audits, inspections, and formal quality reviews as needed.
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years in Quality Assurance roles, including at least 3 years leading or managing QA teams.
Demonstrated experience delivering quality for complex, multi-platform products.
Technical Expertise
Strong command of modern QA methodologies, tools, and frameworks.
Experience designing and maintaining automated test solutions using tools such as Cypress, Appium, or similar platforms.
Hands-on familiarity with defect tracking, monitoring, and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, BrowserStack, Firebase, AWS CloudWatch).
Knowledge of performance, load, and security testing techniques.
Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum environments, with exposure to Waterfall methodologies.
Capabilities & Soft Skills
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills.
Clear, confident communicator able to present technical information to varied audiences.
