Location: Bangalore, India
Business: Honeywell Aerospace
Role Overview
Honeywell Aerospace is seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer with strong experience in avionics-based product development to lead the end-to-end design and integration of advanced analog / power electronics systems. This role supports aerospace and urban air mobility programs and demands deep technical expertise, systems-level thinking, and leadership capability. The successful candidate will mentor engineering teams, resolve complex technical challenges, and work closely with global stakeholders to deliver high-quality, compliant products across the full development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end development and system integration of advanced power electronics hardware for aerospace and urban air mobility applications.
Define hardware specifications and requirements, ensuring alignment with system, customer, and regulatory needs.
Drive system-level design decisions, addressing complex challenges such as thermal management, EMI/EMC, functional safety, and high-reliability operation.
Conduct hardware and system design reviews with a strong focus on integration, scalability, reuse strategy, DFX considerations, and computing architecture development.
Own and ensure execution of development and verification plans, including electrical, functional, and environmental compliance per DO-160 standards.
Validate design concepts through circuit simulation, prototyping, laboratory testing, and analysis.
Ensure program milestones are met by working closely with project engineers and cross-functional teams.
Support product and module development activities, including trade studies, requirements development, detailed design, analysis, and lab-based testing.
Collaborate with global, multi-disciplinary teams spanning systems, software, programmable logic, and mechanical engineering.
Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, to ensure products meet technical and contractual requirements.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, ensuring adherence to established engineering standards, best practices, and quality processes.
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence, while guiding future product evolution.
Qualifications
Desired Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Power Electronics.
15+ years of hardware engineering experience, with significant exposure to avionics and power electronics product development.
Strong understanding of closed-loop control systems for power converters, including compensator design.
Solid system-level design expertise, with the ability to manage complex interactions across hardware, software, and mechanical domains.
Track record of leading and managing multiple power electronics projects involving analog, digital, and control circuitry.
Experience in EMI/EMC design, including filter design and grounding schema.
Proficiency with Siemens EDA / Mentor Graphics (Xpedition Enterprise Design Flow or equivalent), LT-Spice, Mathcad, and MS Excel.
Strong circuit debugging, troubleshooting, and laboratory skills.
Experience with product-level analog and linear circuit design, including signal conditioning (preferred).
Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation, including hardware requirements, design specifications, test specifications, and board-level design documentation.
Strong knowledge of component selection, derating, and system integration in safety-critical environments.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across global teams.
A results-oriented team player who takes ownership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is motivated to lead and grow a team of power electronics engineers.
