Lead Engineer - Real Time Trade Data Platform

Overview
This role owns the most critical system in the platform: the real-time trade data layer that every downstream capability depends on. It processes billions of transactions per week across asset classes and protocols, with zero tolerance for data loss. This is a deeply hands-on, lead engineering role with meaningful influence over system architecture and technical direction. You will work closely with executive leadership, acting as both a builder and a product-minded technical owner, responsible for turning complex requirements into reliable, scalable systems used in live capital markets.

What You Will Work On and Own
• End-to-end ownership of real-time trade data flow from ingest through downstream delivery
• Ingesting private trade data via FIX, FIXML, OM, proprietary protocols, REST, and flat files
• Normalizing and enriching heterogeneous trade data into a unified canonical model
• Enforcing correctness guarantees including ordering, idempotency, deduplication, and replayability
• Ensuring zero data loss across all paths and graceful handling of malformed or delayed inputs
• Designing, operating, and evolving high-performance distributed systems, including a C++ core
• Persisting and distributing data to downstream systems using databases, Kafka, FIX APIs, and other channels
• Defining and enforcing data contracts in collaboration with product, ensuring downstream availability and trust
• Building strong observability and traceability to diagnose real-time data issues before they impact customers

What We Are Looking For
• Deep experience building real-time, high-throughput systems where correctness is non-negotiable
• Hands-on experience with financial transaction protocols such as FIX, FIXML, OM, or similar
• Strong systems and concurrency skills in C++, Java, or Rust
• Experience with streaming infrastructure such as Kafka at production scale
• Proven production experience diagnosing and resolving live data issues under pressure
• Strong understanding of straight-through processing from trade ingest to post-trade use cases
• Experience with databases suited for high-volume transactional data
• Comfort working in containerized, production environments using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
• Ownership mindset, strong judgment, and the ability to operate autonomously in complex systems
