Your Role And Responsibilities

As a Hardware Developer for Cognitive Systems Circuit Layout, you will design, develop, test, and deliver offerings for Power & Z using the latest technologies. This role involves creating complex VLSI circuit layouts and ensuring design integrity. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Design and Layout Circuits: Create new physical design data from concepts, partial schematics, or overall requirements, and convert symbolic circuit data into physical shapes representing the semiconductor process.
Check Design Integrity: Verify the design meets semiconductor ground rules and logical circuit function, performing manual checks and utilizing tool manipulations as needed.
Collaborate with Extended Team: Coordinate with the team to ensure effective methodology creation and implementation.
Develop Physical Shapes: Use graphic editing tools to create and manipulate physical shapes for VLSI circuit designs.
Ensure Logical Function: Validate the logical function of the circuit, ensuring it meets requirements and specifications.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

Exposure to VLSI Circuit Design: Familiarity with designing and laying out complex VLSI circuits using graphic editing tools, including converting symbolic circuit data into physical shapes.
Semiconductor Ground Rules Knowledge: Understanding of semiconductor ground rules and their application in ensuring design integrity.
Experience with Graphic Editing Tools: Hands-on experience with graphic editing tools used for creating and manipulating physical shapes for VLSI circuit designs.
Circuit Function Validation: Exposure to validating the logical function of circuits, ensuring they meet requirements and specifications.
Methodology Creation Collaboration: Experience working with teams to coordinate and implement effective methodology creation for circuit design and layout.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

Advanced VLSI Design Tools: Exposure to specialized VLSI design tools and software, including those used for creating and manipulating physical shapes for complex circuit designs.
Semiconductor Process Knowledge: Familiarity with semiconductor processes and their impact on circuit design and layout, including understanding of semiconductor ground rules.
Circuit Simulation Techniques: Experience with circuit simulation techniques and tools used to validate the logical function of circuits and ensure design integrity.
