Interior Trim Engineer
Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking an engineer to join the Interior Trim Team of the Interior Engineering Design Team/Department
The Position:
The Interior Trim Engineer would support design, development, and release efforts concerning interior trim components for Hyundai's North American (NA) vehicle programs, while driving innovation in cost, mass, technology, performance, and quality
What You Will Do:
Design, develop, and release interior trim components (e.g., pillar trim, carpet, door trim, headliners, etc.) for NA programs
Lead engineering development from early concept through mass production using cradle-to-grave product development best practices
Develop innovative engineering solutions to improve the cost, weight, performance, quality, and manufacturing of interior trim components
Generate and complete advanced development projects focused on part and system-level improvements for future NA vehicles
Assess current designs and perform competitor benchmarking to recommend engineering improvements
Create, analyze, and present technical reports to communicate project status, risks, and results to internal and external stakeholders
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and global counterparts to ensure successful program execution
Travel up to 15% of the time, both domestically and internationally
What You Will Bring to the Role:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related discipline
2-7 years of professional experience with interior trim design and release responsibilities
Sound understanding of interior trim components (e.g., pillar trim, carpet, door trim, headliners, etc.)
Experience in cradle-to-grave product development best practices and processes
Knowledge of US regulations
Familiarity with design, manufacturing, and assembly processes concerning interior trim components
Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., CATIA V6, NX, Solidworks, etc.)
CATIA V5 experience highly preferred, but not required
Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
