A fast-growing renewable energy developer focused on advancing the transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy system is seeking an experienced Interconnection & Project Engineer to join its team. The company develops, finances, owns, and operates distributed solar and energy storage projects at customer sites, supporting commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications.

Role Overview
The Interconnection & Project Engineer will serve as a key technical leader across project development activities, with significant responsibility from early-stage design through commercial operation. This role reports into senior technical leadership and offers strong visibility, autonomy, and growth potential.

Key Responsibilities
Act as lead technical engineer interfacing with external engineering firms across project development lifecycle, from concept through execution.
Lead utility interconnection applications and manage technical engagement with utilities to support project approvals and energization.
Resolve technical issues related to grid interconnection, including inverter behavior, protection schemes, and control systems.
Collaborate with equipment suppliers on technical design elements including SCADA, networking, solar, and storage systems.
Support sales and business development teams with technical input for proposals and project feasibility.
Manage external consultants through interconnection study processes, including grid modeling and electrical diagram development.
Serve as technical project manager ensuring all engineering deliverables are coordinated and executed throughout development.
Interface directly with customers, utilities, and internal decision-makers to align technical solutions with project goals.

Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in engineering project development.
4+ years of experience in solar and energy storage projects (1MW+ scale preferred).
Strong understanding of distributed energy resources and utility-scale interconnection processes.
Experience with utility interconnection frameworks (e.g., Rule 21, WDAT or equivalent).
Electrical engineering background (degree or equivalent experience).
Familiarity with grid operations, tariffs, and energy market structures is highly desirable.
Strong problem-solving skills and interest in advanced renewable energy technologies.
Passion for working in the clean energy sector.
Bay Area location preferred.
