The Integration Engineer will design, build, and maintain the middleware, APIs, and data pipelines that connect our core business systems-ecommerce, ERP, forecasting, data warehouse, and more-ensuring seamless, reliable data flow across the organization. As a individual contributor on a small team, you'll collaborate closely with business stakeholders, operations, development teams, and external partners, provide production support (including 24/7 on‑call rotations for critical incidents), and mentor junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
API & Middleware Development: Architect, develop, and optimize APIs and middleware components (primarily MuleSoft; Apache Airflow secondary) to support integrations with ecommerce, ERP (SAP Business ByDesign), forecasting, and other business applications.
Data Flow Architecture: Define, diagram, and document end‑to‑end data flows and integration patterns, ensuring clarity, scalability, and adherence to governance standards.
Hands‑On Integrations: Implement and maintain integrations-EDI (PO, ASN, Invoice), web services, webhooks, and API gateways-and troubleshoot production issues, including logging, error handling, and root‑cause analysis.
Production Support & Monitoring: Monitor integration workflows in production, respond to support tickets, and perform troubleshooting. This role may require 24/7 on‑call support for production‑critical issues, ensuring rapid incident response and resolution.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders (IT, operations, finance, external vendors) to gather requirements, manage expectations, and drive integration roadmaps.
Mentoring & Documentation: Mentor less‑senior engineers, maintain up‑to‑date integration documentation and runbooks, and develop training materials.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field-or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on API/middleware/integration engineering experience, including at least 2 years of dedicated MuleSoft development.
Technical Expertise:
MuleSoft (primary middleware) and Apache Airflow (secondary) or other preexisting Middleware experience
SQL Server (T‑SQL, stored procedures)
Shopify ecommerce platform
SAP Business ByDesign ERP
EDI standards and B2B integrations (PO, ASN, Invoice)
Web Services (REST/SOAP), Webhooks, and API development
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring abilities; strong organizational skills to juggle multiple projects.
Preferred Skills
Certifications in MuleSoft, Microsoft SQL Server, or relevant integration technologies.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and SaaS integration patterns.
Experience with data warehouse environments and ETL processes.
Knowledge of compliance frameworks (PCI, GDPR, SOC 2).
