Integration Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing startup in the aerospace/defense industry as a Senior Integrations Engineer. You’ll lead complex integrations in fast-paced environments, collaborating across platform, autonomy, and software teams to ensure seamless performance in the field. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong technical depth, UAV systems experience, and the ability to lead complex integrations from concept to operational deployment. We are open to lighter candidates who would be willing to grow more in some areas as well if you don't have all the experience, but will need to be mechanically inclined and have some software embedded experience.

Responsibilities:
Lead the integration of avionics, mission payloads, flight controllers, and embedded subsystems, ensuring compliance with strict reliability, safety, and performance standards.
Configure, manage, and troubleshoot tactical and airborne networks, including RF data links and embedded communications systems, to maintain robust connectivity.
Develop and maintain both embedded and application-level software. Write efficient scripts and tools in Python, Bash, Shell, and C/C++ to streamline automation, testing, and system integration.
Quickly diagnose and resolve complex electromechanical, avionics, and embedded software issues in both laboratory and demanding field environments.
Create, execute, and refine comprehensive test plans. Validate system performance, analyze test results, and provide clear technical recommendations for improvements.
Transform high-level mission requirements and customer needs into clear, actionable technical specifications and implement tailored hardware/software payload solutions.
Partner with technical writers to develop and maintain essential documentation, including integration guides, test reports, user manuals, and troubleshooting materials.
Provide critical performance feedback to design and manufacturing teams. Perform repair and rework on both proprietary and third-party hardware to ensure mission readiness.
Leverage additive manufacturing and simulation tools in a cross-functional environment to accelerate the development lifecycle.
Prepare, configure, and support the deployment of MECCS (Modular Electronic Command and Control Systems) and other critical field assets.
Actively monitor and apply emerging technologies in avionics, embedded systems, tactical networking, and unmanned systems to drive innovation.

Requirements and Desired Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering.
Experience in UAV avionics, including systems integration, troubleshooting and field operations is a plus.
Strong networking knowledge, including configuration and troubleshooting of Ethernet, TCP/IP, VPNs, VLANs, and wireless systems.
Proficient with Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat) and Windows systems; strong command-line skills.
Embedded software development and scripting experience in Python, Bash, Shell, and C/C++.
Skilled in troubleshooting across avionics systems, embedded software, RF equipment, and integrated hardware stacks.
Familiar with Software Defined Radios (SDRs), including configuration and performance tuning.
Experience with virtualization and container tools such as Docker, VMware and Kubernetes.
Understanding of cybersecurity compliance requirements and best practices within embedded systems and tactical networks.
Strong technical writing skills for documenting procedures, systems and troubleshooting.
Able to work across engineering disciplines and with field operations teams.
Proficiency with PX4 Autopilot, including system setup, parameter tuning, and diagnostics a plus
Experience with ROS or similar robotics middleware for autonomy and control systems a plus.
Analytical mindset, able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
Must be a U.S. Person due to the nature of work & required access to U.S. export-controlled information
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
