Due to recent expansion, Akkodis is seeking a High Voltage Test Engineer with Charging & Power Electronics experience to join our large dedicated Akkodis team for the next several years to support our OEM vehicle manufacturer in the Detroit Metro area. The ideal candidate will possess greater than 5++ years professional HIL test bench environment experience within the automotive industry at the component and/or system level. Candidates possessing prior experience from Rivian, Tesla, Lucid, or GM are also beneficial.
We are seeking a highly technical HV HiL Integration & Solutions Engineer to join our High Voltage (HV) System HiL team. In this role, you'll be responsible for integrating advanced solutions into our existing HiL setups. You'll bridge the gap between our complex HV hardware stack—including Keysight, dSpace, and NI—and our automation requirements. Your primary focus will be developing custom Python-based frameworks to interface this equipment with our ECUtest environment, ensuring that our testers have the robust, automated tools they need to validate our high-voltage vehicle systems.
Starting Pay Range: Up to $120,000/yr (salary commensurate based on experience and education levels).
High Voltage Test Engineer job responsibilities include:
Solution Integration: Design and implement hardware and software "add-on" solutions to enhance the capabilities of existing HV HiL benches.
Framework Development: Develop, maintain, and optimize a custom Python-based framework that enables ECUtest to communicate seamlessly with Keysight, dSpace, and NI equipment.
Technical Support & Evolution: Work closely with the testing team to understand their requirements and develop technical solutions to automate complex HV test scenarios.
Hardware Interfacing: Configure and troubleshooting communication between the HiL supervisor and peripheral HV equipment (e.g., via CAN, Ethernet, or vendor-specific APIs).
AI-Driven Development: Utilize modern AI tools to streamline the development of integration scripts, automate repetitive coding tasks, and perform rapid root-cause analysis of integration issues.
Model Support: Assist in updating or integrating dSpace plant models and I/O mappings to support new features or system changes.
Documentation: Create clear technical documentation for the custom frameworks and hardware integrations you develop to ensure the testing team can utilize them effectively.
Diagnostics: Implement and validate automotive communication protocols (CAN-FD, Ethernet) and UDS-based diagnostics within the integrated solution.
QUALIFICATIONS (required):
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
Five (5) or more years of professional experience in HiL environments, to specifically include any level of High Voltage (HV) systems and Power Electronics.
Integration Expertise: Proven ability to integrate new hardware solutions into existing HiL ecosystems (e.g., adding new HV emulators, load banks, or measurement modules).
Hardware Knowledge: Strong familiarity with dSpace (Scalexio), Keysight (HV Emulators), and NI (PXI) hardware interfaces and APIs.
Software/Automation: Advanced proficiency in Python for developing custom communication layers, drivers, and frameworks.
Test Tooling: Hands-on experience with ECUtest (TraceTronic), specifically developing custom test-bench integrations and workspace configurations.
HV Component Knowledge: Solid understanding of HV vehicle architecture and the functional requirements of components like Inverters, BMS, and Charging systems.
Simulation & AI (Plus):
Experience in plant model building/modification within dSpace (Simulink/ConfigurationDesk) is a plus.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLMs) to accelerate Python development and troubleshooting is a plus.
Collaborative Mindset: Ability to act as an individual contributor who proactively takes inputs from test engineers to design and implement technical solutions.
