We are looking for a Heat Exchanger Proposal Engineer to join our international tendering team based in Chennai. The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing technical and commercial proposals for heat exchangers in large-scale EPC projects worldwide, mainly within the Oil & Gas sector, as well as Power and other industrial applications.
This role requires close coordination with internal departments (outside sales, logistics, finance and project management) and external stakeholders (clients, EPC contractors, vendors).
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze RFQs, ITTs, and technical specifications from EPC contractors and end users
Prepare technical and commercial proposals for heat exchangers (shell & tube, air coolers, etc.)
Review datasheets, specifications, and project requirements
Coordinate with engineering teams for technical compliance and optimized solutions
Liaise with approved manufacturers and suppliers for quotations
Perform cost estimation and pricing strategies aligned with project requirements
Identify deviations, qualifications, and risks during the bidding stage
Ensure timely submission of high-quality proposals
Support clarification rounds and negotiations with clients
Candidate Profile:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
Minimum 3–7 years of experience in proposal/tendering roles within EPC projects or equipment supply
Proven experience with heat exchangers (highly preferred) or similar static equipment (pressure vessels, columns, etc.)
Strong understanding of international standards (ASME, TEMA, API, etc.)
Experience working with major EPC contractors is a plus
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and datasheets
Commercial awareness and cost sensitivity
Skills:
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
Team player with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
High attention to detail
