Title: Test Engineer 3 (FW Development Test Engineer)
Location: Austin, TX
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented FPGA & Embedded Firmware Test Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for validating Platform Hardware Controller (PHC) solutions used in next-generation Data Center GPU platforms.
You will work closely with FPGA, firmware, hardware design, and system architecture teams to develop and execute comprehensive validation strategies. Your work will ensure high-quality, reliable system behavior across complex embedded and FPGA-based designs.
This role emphasizes test development, automation, and CI-driven validation workflows for both standalone and integrated systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
• Develop and execute test plans and validation strategies for FPGA and embedded firmware systems.
• Design and implement automated test frameworks for functional, integration, and system-level validation.
• Validate FPGA designs and embedded firmware interacting with high-speed interfaces and SoC-based architectures.
• Collaborate with firmware, FPGA, and hardware teams to define test requirements from system specifications.
• Develop Python, C/C++, or scripting-based test tools for automation and data analysis.
• Integrate validation tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Git-based workflows) for continuous regression testing.
• Perform debug and root cause analysis of system-level failures across firmware, FPGA, and hardware boundaries.
• Support pre-silicon and post-silicon validation, including lab bring-up and hardware debugging.
• Analyze logs and test results to provide actionable insights and defect triage support.
• Contribute to development of reusable validation infrastructure and test IP.
• Continuously improve test coverage, quality metrics, and validation efficiency.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, FPGA architectures, and firmware-hardware interaction.
• Experience with test development and automation for embedded or FPGA-based systems.
• Programming experience in Python, C/C++, and scripting (bash or similar).
• Familiarity with hardware interfaces and protocols such as I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, and Ethernet/TCP-IP.
• Experience working with CI/CD systems (Git, Jenkins, or similar).
• Ability to debug across software, firmware, FPGA, and hardware layers.
• Familiarity with lab equipment (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers) is a plus.
• Experience interpreting board schematics and hardware documentation.
• Exposure to BMC, system management protocols (MCTP, PLDM, IPMI, Redfish) is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional environment.
• Self-motivated with ability to drive tasks independently in a fast-paced environment.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• 3–8 years of relevant experience in FPGA validation, embedded firmware testing, or system validation.
