Insight Global is supporting an Electric Drives organization in identifying an Inverter Controller Engineer to support inverter and converter applications across locomotive, off‑highway vehicle (OHV), EV, and hybrid platforms. This engineer will focus primarily on controller hardware ownership, ensuring proper interaction between electronics and power electronics systems.
While the physical hardware design may be executed by another team, this role owns requirements definition, validation, and verification once hardware is available. The engineer will also write C/C++ code to support bring‑up and validation activities and will validate inverter behavior using HIL and lab environments. This role is a long‑term investment supporting existing architectures as well as limited from‑scratch development.
Responsibilities:
Own inverter/converter controller hardware requirements
Validate controller hardware against power electronics behavior
Support bring‑up and validation using C/C++
Execute and support HIL and lab‑based testing
Partner cross‑functionally with hardware, software, and systems teams
Support EMI/EMC validation efforts
Contribute to continuous improvement of inverter controller architecture
Qualifications Required:
Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Mechatronics degree
2–5 years of experience in inverter or converter controller systems
Strong understanding of power electronics and inverter behavior under load
Experience with hardware design and validation (controller‑focused)
Ability to write C/C++ for bring‑up and validation
Hands‑on HIL and lab testing experience
Exposure to EMI / EMC considerations
Experience writing or validating hardware requirements
Relo package provided
