The role
We're seeking a hands-on Hardware Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of the electronic systems powering QuSpectra's quantum sensing platforms. You will develop mixed-signal, RF, and microwave hardware that forms the core of our quantum control and readout chain.

What you'll do
Design and develop electronic hardware for advanced quantum sensing and precision instrumentation systems.
Design schematics and multilayer PCBs for mixed-signal, analog, digital, RF, and power electronics.
Develop low-noise analog circuits and signal acquisition electronics for precision sensor systems.
Integrate microcontrollers, FPGAs, ADCs/DACs, power supplies, amplifiers, sensors, and communication interfaces.
Support RF and high-frequency PCB design, including controlled-impedance routing and transmission lines.
Define PCB stack-ups and optimize component placement, routing, grounding, shielding, power integrity, and electromagnetic compatibility.
Take ownership of hardware development from concept and schematic design through PCB layout, fabrication, assembly, bring-up, testing, and iteration.
Work closely with the engineering team to translate system-level requirements into robust electronic designs.
Coordinate PCB fabrication and assembly with external vendors.
Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, testing, and characterization.
Investigate and resolve issues involving signal integrity, noise, EMI/EMC, grounding, and power integrity.
Support design-for-manufacturing (DFM), design-for-test (DFT), and the transition from prototypes to production.
Maintain clear engineering documentation, BOMs, component libraries, and revision-controlled hardware designs.

Required qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in electrical or electronic hardware design.
Strong experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, KiCad, Cadence, or similar.
Experience designing multilayer mixed-signal PCBs.
Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics.
Experience designing, assembling, bringing up, and debugging electronic hardware.
Strong understanding of PCB grounding, power distribution, decoupling, and noise reduction techniques.
Familiarity with PCB fabrication and assembly processes.
Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and other electronic test equipment.
Ability to work independently and take ownership in a fast-paced startup environment.
