Facture is a design and engineering consultancy that partners with startups and growth companies to materialize innovative new products and services across many different industries. The company is looking to add an experienced Hardware Development Engineer to the team who will have both electrical engineering and firmware development skill sets. They will work closely and collaborate with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, firmware engineers, industrial designers and project managers to move projects from concept to completion, delivering amazing results to our clients and their end customers. This is not a remote position but many team members will work a day or two from home each week. Candidates should have at least 3+ years of electrical engineering experience in a consulting or product development capacity with a proven track record of going from idea to production circuits.

Core Responsibilities:
Represent Facture with a high level of integrity and professionalism
Design custom electronics performing schematic capture, sourcing components, simulate and perform circuit analysis, implement or direct printed circuit board layout, oversee PCBA fabrication, develop test plans and validate reliability and performance.
Develop firmware for bring-up and testing of circuits as more advanced firmware functionality as necessary using best practices for code development across many different languages and development environments.
Identify issues, new scope, errors, or unplanned tasks in the course or project execution work with project management and the client to incorporate updates to the project plan or modify requirements or deliverables to meet schedule and budget constraints.
Design for Safety and EMC agency compliance requirements, perform or oversee agency certification testing, and mitigate issues.
Coordinate and collaborate with clients, program management, and other engineering disciplines.
Conduct technical reviews, both internally and externally
Make aggressive but achievable commitments and deliver designs that meet quality and performance requirements on schedule and budget

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or comparable skill
Expert-level familiarity with consumer electronics design, development, engineering, and manufacturing processes
Must have direct product development experience, ideally covering all phases initial concept to manufacturing ramp up, as well as circuit design experience with a focus on mixed signal and embedded system hardware design.
Significant experience laying out PCBs with industry standard software, such as Altium.
Solid experience working with a variety of embedded systems environments, including C/C++, Python, or similar
Able to directly engage third parties (partners, clients, and suppliers), and able to articulate technical ideas and tradeoffs to a non-technical audience.
Independent and self-directed, able to manage projects and act as a technical lead as needed
