Our client, a leader in the automotive industry, is seeking a Google Workspace Engineer to serve as the primary point of contact for all Google Workspace platform administration and optimization across their enterprise.
This role sits within the End User Computing (EUC) team and requires a seasoned engineer with strong collaboration tools expertise, hands-on Mobile Device Management experience across both Google MDM and VMware Workspace ONE, and the ability to design and maintain automation and scripting solutions. The ideal candidate is technically deep, communicates effectively across teams, and can own the Google Workspace ecosystem end-to-end.
Responsibilities
Serve as the enterprise-wide primary point of contact (POC) for all Google Workspace administration, escalations, and platform decisions
Administer Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Meet, Chat, Calendar, Vault, Admin Console) for a large, distributed workforce
Manage tenant-level configurations including organizational units, access policies, DLP rules, data retention, and compliance controls
Own user lifecycle management including provisioning, de-provisioning, group management, shared drives, and service accounts
Administer Google MDM and VMware Workspace ONE for enterprise device enrollment, policy enforcement, and compliance monitoring
Develop and enforce device policies for corporate-owned and BYOD endpoints aligned to enterprise security standards
Build and maintain automation scripts using Google Apps Script, Python, and/or PowerShell to streamline administrative workflows, provisioning, and reporting
Leverage Google Workspace APIs to automate tasks and integrate Workspace services with internal tools and systems
Collaborate closely with IT operations, helpdesk, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable EUC solutions
Evaluate and recommend collaboration technologies and contribute to change management and end-user training initiatives
Maintain documentation including runbooks, process guides, and an internal EUC knowledge base
Qualifications
5+ years of IT experience with 3+ years dedicated to Google Workspace administration in an enterprise environment
Demonstrated experience as a Google Workspace SME or primary administrator for a mid-to-large organization (5,000+ users preferred)
Hands-on experience with Google MDM (Android Enterprise / ChromeOS) via the Admin Console
Proficient with VMware Workspace ONE (AirWatch) for MDM policy management and endpoint compliance
Strong scripting skills in one or more of: Google Apps Script, Python, PowerShell, or Bash
Experience with Google Workspace APIs for automation and systems integration
Solid understanding of SSO/SAML, directory services, and identity federation (e.g., Google Identity, Okta, Azure AD)
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Google Workspace Administrator certification (Associate or Professional) preferred
VMware Workspace ONE / UEM certification or equivalent MDM certification a plus
Experience in the automotive, manufacturing, or industrial sector a plus
