Role Description
As a Professor at UNCW I seek an Azure Technician/Engineer to execute a five-week, time-sensitive project aimed at advancing a chatbot prototype invention from TRL 3+ (proof of concept) to TRL 7 (system prototype demonstration in a relevant environment). The position is well-funded but time bound beginning early May requiring clearances through our Business services and IT. The role will involve implementing and enhancing chatbot features, hardening from LLM creep, optimizing system architecture for scalability, allowing scaled up user access and prompt engineering, and ensuring subscription readiness for commercial deployment. This is a remote opportunity and requires close collaboration with stakeholders to meet project objectives within the designated timeline.
Qualifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Azure, including cloud computing services, deployment, and management
Experience in chatbot development, system architecture, and AI/machine learning tools
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills for scalable system design
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage short-term, high-intensity projects efficiently
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams remotely
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
Familiarity with commercial application requirements and subscription-readiness standards is preferred
