The Functional Engineer is responsible for daily technical tasks for client projects and general functional safety consulting and best practices for prospects or clients. Duties include active research into client systems, problems, and potential solutions. Additionally, their duties include participation in a personalized training program for their further development.


Key Functions

  • Identify an appropriate regulatory and compliance approach based on target market requirements and ensure implementation in client system.
  • Define safety requirements according to the prescribed safety targets needed to achieve functional safety.
  • Perform safety-related analyses (FMEA, Hazard Analysis and Risk assessment) and propose solutions for identified system weaknesses to achieve safety goals.
  • Support development of system, or component test plans or validation activities.
  • Participate in customer meetings to support safety-related discussions, to communicate regulatory requirements, verify compliance, provide general consulting and share best practices.
  • Report out the status of assigned work products by Functional Safety Senior Engineer.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical degree required.
  • Functional Safety Engineer certificate by TÜV
  • 3+ years of work experience


Skills

  • Familiarity with ISO and IEC standards required.
  • Testing and Analysis familiarity.
  • Good verbal and communications skills.
  • Able to work in a highly collaborative environment.
