Position Title: Senior Hardware Design Engineer
Work Location: Hybrid – West Berlin, NJ Area
Projects Involved With:
Development of advanced embedded electronic products for industrial and high-availability applications
Hardware architecture and design of processor-based systems
FPGA and microcontroller-based product development
Mixed-signal, analog, digital, power, and communication system design
Product validation, qualification testing, and certification efforts
New product introduction and production release activities
Technology roadmap and next-generation product development initiatives
Responsibilities:
Lead the architecture, design, development, and release of complex embedded electronic products from concept through production.
Define system architectures involving processors, microcontrollers, FPGAs, communication interfaces, sensors, and power management subsystems.
Perform circuit design, schematic capture, simulation, component selection, and PCB design oversight utilizing Cadence design tools.
Develop hardware solutions that meet performance, reliability, environmental, safety, EMC/EMI, manufacturability, and cost objectives.
Conduct design reviews and provide technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle.
Collaborate with software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and product management teams.
Serve as technical lead on major development programs.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on hardware design methodologies and engineering best practices.
Establish engineering standards, design guidelines, and development processes.
Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for complex technical issues.
Design and validate mixed-signal, analog, digital, power, and communication circuits.
Support PCB stack-up design, signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal management activities.
Develop validation plans, qualification procedures, and design verification testing.
Support prototypes bring-up, debugging, integration, and troubleshooting activities.
Lead product compliance efforts involving EMC/EMI, electrical safety, and environmental certifications.
Manage engineering documentation, ECOs, and ECNs throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technical discipline.
10+ years of electronic hardware design experience.
Proven experience delivering commercial products from concept through production release.
Experience serving as technical lead on successful product development programs.
Strong experience with Cadence schematic capture and PCB design tools.
Expertise in embedded processor-based systems.
Experience with microprocessors, microcontrollers, and FPGA-based systems.
Power supply design experience.
Knowledge of Ethernet and industrial communication interfaces.
Understanding of signal integrity and power integrity concepts.
High-speed digital design experience.
Hardware validation and qualification testing experience.
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Skills:
Master's degree in electrical engineering.
Experience in industrial, mission-critical, or high-availability systems.
EMC/EMI compliance and certification experience.
Electrical safety certification experience.
Environmental compliance experience.
Experience with emerging embedded technologies and product roadmap planning.
Prior mentoring or engineering leadership experience.
Strong understanding of manufacturing and design-for-manufacturability principles.
