About the Role
Our client Jetty is building the first AI functional health doctor and coach — starting with the hardest use case: people living with chronic illness. As a Founding Engineer, you'll own the product and engineering systems that turn Jetty's intelligence into something people genuinely trust and use every day. You'll join a live product with active users, write production code from week one, and help define the architecture for deep, long-term health intelligence — the kind that compounds with every interaction.
What You'll Do
Ship core product features end-to-end — from backend logic to the user-facing experiences that make Jetty faster, smarter, and more intuitive for people managing chronic illness
Own the engineering foundations that let a small team move quickly and confidently: APIs, data models, testing frameworks, deployment pipelines, and the systems that connect product, mobile, and AI
Build for reliability and privacy — design systems that scale gracefully, protect sensitive health data, and fail safely; own CI/CD, observability, and monitoring as usage grows
Set the technical bar for code quality, architecture decisions, and engineering culture — create an environment where speed, craftsmanship, and pragmatism coexist
Partner closely with the founding team — including product, design, mobile, and AI — to translate ambiguous ideas into shipped, production-ready features
Make smart build tradeoffs — know when to invest in foundations that compound over time and when to move fast with a simple solution; you'll do both every week
What You'll Bring
Required:
3–8+ years of experience building software products, with meaningful time in fast-moving startup environments
Strong full-stack fundamentals with depth in backend engineering — you can own and ship features end-to-end without heavy scaffolding
Demonstrated experience building reliable systems: REST or GraphQL APIs, relational data models, testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and production observability
Strong product instincts — you think about what users need, not just what's technically correct, and you're comfortable shaping decisions alongside non-engineering stakeholders
Proven ability to operate in early-stage ambiguity: you make pragmatic decisions, unblock yourself, and ship
Nice to Have:
Experience with Swift, React Native, or other mobile/frontend development
Background building privacy-sensitive or health-related products (HIPAA familiarity is a plus)
Proficiency in strongly typed or compiled languages such as Go, Rust, or Java
Experience building AI-native products or integrating LLM-powered workflows into production systems
Why Join Jetty
Outsized ownership from day one — you'll shape not just the codebase but the engineering culture, architecture, and product direction of a company at its most formative stage
Mission that matters — your work will directly help people with chronic illness better understand their bodies and advocate for their own health
Work at the frontier of applied AI — Jetty treats models as components in larger intelligent systems, not chatbots; the technical challenges here are genuinely hard and genuinely novel
Strong founding team and backing — you'll work directly with a former senior AI leader from Palantir and a former NEA venture investor, backed by the top seed investor in NYC with $2M+ raised
Meaningful compensation — competitive salary and a real equity package that reflects your founding-level contribution
