What You'll Do
As Founding Engineer, you will:
Architect, design, and scale Backhouse’s sourcing engine and operator platform
Build end‑to‑end features across backend, frontend, and infrastructure
Partner directly with leadership to set technical direction and product roadmap
Ship quickly, learn from real operators, and iterate weekly
Expand how AI/LLMs can transform procurement workflows
Establish Backhouse’s engineering culture and recruit the next generation of builders

Qualifications
3+ years of software engineering experience
Ideally have experience at a high-growth startup in early stages (fewer than 20 people)
Strong full stack fundamentals with hands-on experience in Next.js and AWS
Comfortable being the primary technical owner of a codebase, not just a contributor to one
Experience integrating APIs, particularly AI/LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.) into production products - eager to stay obsessively current with what's possible through model layer advancements
Familiarity with GitHub, CI/CD, and standard deployment workflows
Experience with payments, procurement, or order management systems is a plus but not required
