ChipSage Labs is building agentic solutions for chip design teams in the semiconductor industry. We are a well funded & early-stage team of EDA/AI engineers and researchers developing agentic tools designed to support chip design and verification workflows.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled AI Engineer / Agentic AI Systems Engineer to help build next-generation agentic AI systems for chip design automation and engineering workflows. You will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing advanced AI agents capable of reasoning, planning, tool orchestration, retrieval, memory management, and autonomous execution across complex engineering environments.
This role involves close collaboration with the founding team on cutting-edge AI infrastructure, multi-agent systems, evaluation frameworks, and scalable autonomous engineering platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in LLM systems, agentic AI architectures, tool-calling workflows, memory systems, retrieval pipelines, backend AI infrastructure, and long-horizon reasoning systems.
Responsibilities
Design and develop scalable agentic AI architectures for engineering and chip design workflows
Build multi-agent systems capable of planning, task decomposition, tool orchestration, and autonomous execution
Develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, memory systems, and semantic retrieval infrastructure
Build scalable evaluation harnesses and continuous benchmarking systems for agentic AI workflows
Develop infrastructure for tracking metrics such as Pass@k, tool-call success rates, execution correctness, latency, retry metrics, hallucination/error rates, and regression performance
Collaborate closely with infrastructure, verification, and research teams to integrate AI agents into production engineering workflows
Build and maintain backend AI infrastructure supporting scalable experimentation and deployment
Contribute to rapid prototyping, architecture decisions, and long-term AI platform strategy
Investigate and apply emerging techniques from frontier AI research, open-source frameworks, and agentic AI systems
Qualifications
PhD or MS in EE/CS/CE, 2+ years of experience in Applied AI, LLM Engineering, AI Infrastructure, ML Systems Engineering, or related fields
Strong Python software engineering experience with the ability to build scalable backend systems and AI infrastructure
Hands-on experience building agentic AI systems involving planning, memory management, retrieval, autonomous execution, tool calling, and long-context reasoning
Strong familiarity with frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, CrewAI, DSPy, Semantic Kernel, FastAPI, or similar orchestration frameworks
Experience working with cloud LLM APIs including OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or similar providers
Strong understanding of vector databases, semantic retrieval systems, distributed task orchestration, and scalable backend AI systems
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Redis, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Celery, asynchronous workflows, cloud-native deployments, and distributed systems
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building scalable evaluation infrastructure and benchmarking systems for AI agents
Familiarity with LangSmith, Weights & Biases, MLflow, Grafana, Prometheus, Helicone, OpenTelemetry, or similar observability/evaluation tooling
Experience working with coding agents, execution-grounded AI systems, or autonomous software agents
Familiarity with GPU infrastructure, inference systems, distributed compute systems, or ML-Ops infrastructure
Exposure to chip design workflows, EDA tools, hardware verification flows, or engineering automation platforms is a strong plus
What We’re Looking For
Strong ownership and execution mindset
Ability to rapidly prototype and iterate on complex AI systems
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment
Strong systems thinking and problem-solving ability
Passion for frontier AI systems, autonomous agents, and engineering automation
Ability to work closely with the founding team and contribute across multiple layers of the AI stack
Why Join Us
Work on cutting-edge agentic AI systems with real-world impact in semiconductor engineering and automation
Build next-generation autonomous engineering workflows at the intersection of AI and chip design
Collaborate closely with a highly technical founding team spanning AI systems, hardware design, verification, and infrastructure
