Forward Deployed Software Engineer
Location: San Jose, California, United States
Employment Type: Full-Time | On-Site
Package: $145K – $185K + (Negotiable for the right candidate) + Equity + Benefits
Are you a Full Stack Software Engineer who enjoys solving real-world problems directly with customers, building scalable solutions, and working across complex engineering environments?

You’ll work directly with customers, embedding yourself in their operations to design and deliver software solutions that drive real impact on the factory floor.

You’ll take ownership of high-stakes deployments, working face-to-face with engineers and operators to automate processes, solve production bottlenecks, and build tools that directly influence how cutting-edge hardware is designed and built.
This position would suit a full stack engineer who thrives in fast-paced, customer-facing environments, someone who can combine strong software engineering skills with curiosity, adaptability, and a problem-solving mindset.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as a deployed technical expert, working directly with customers to implement and extend software solutions
• Collaborate closely with customer teams to understand operational challenges and design tailored solutions
• Build custom tools, web applications, and data-driven solutions to improve manufacturing and engineering workflows
• Take ownership of solution delivery from concept through to deployment and iteration
• Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code across the full stack
• Work in small, high-impact teams to deliver mission-critical projects
• Feed customer insights back into product development to continuously improve the platform
Essential Skills and Experience
• Strong engineering background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or similar
• Experience building and shipping production-quality software
• Proficiency in modern full stack development (Python, React/TypeScript, SQL, AWS or similar)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to operate in dynamic, fast-paced environments with a high degree of ownership
• Comfortable working directly with customers in a hands-on, problem-solving capacity
• Willingness to travel up to 40% to customer sites
Desirable Skills
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial environments, or hardware-focused companies
• Background as a Product Manager, Lead Engineer, or customer-facing technical role
• Experience working with large-scale data and building data-driven solutions
• Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort operating in startup environments
