Forward Deployed Software Engineer
Location: New York, NY (Full-time, Onsite + Travel)
About Dirac
American manufacturing is burdened by inefficiency, bureaucracy, and outdated processes. At Dirac, we’re building a model-based manufacturing platform that connects engineering and production, enabling real-time feedback between design and manufacturing. By automating workflows and capturing critical operational knowledge, we help modern manufacturers move faster, build better, and scale complex systems. We are a mission-driven company of world-class engineers and operators with a culture of high agency, and high autonomy and radical ownership.
Role Overview
A Forward Deployed Software Engineer works at the intersection of product, engineering, and customer deployments to ensure BuildOS succeeds in real-world production environments. In this role, you directly collaborate with customers and internal teams to ship impactful features, build integrations, and rapidly iterate on the product to remove technical blockers and drive adoption. Operating with high autonomy, you focus on high-leverage engineering work, provide fast feedback through code reviews, and act as a force multiplier for the team—delivering solutions that directly impact customer success and revenue.
Responsibilities
Build integrations between BuildOS and customer systems (PLM, ERP, etc.)
Identify and fix high-impact issues blocking customer adoption
Ship deployment-critical features with speed and quality
Review code and help reduce PR backlog across the engineering team
Partner with product and core engineering to prioritize high-leverage work
Support pilots, deployments, and customer technical needs
Participate in demos and technical discussions as needed
Qualifications
Strong full-stack software engineering fundamentals
Ability to write production-quality code in modern languages (e.g. React, TypeScript, Go)
Experience working in complex systems and codebases
Ability to quickly understand and debug unfamiliar systems
Strong communication skills in technical and customer-facing contexts
High ownership and bias toward action
Experience with APIs, integrations, and distributed systems
Familiarity with CAD / PLM / ERP ecosystems
Experience in high-growth startup environments
Comfort with AI-assisted development workflows
Compensation:
$120,000 - $150,000 Base Salary + Equity
Benefits:
Health, Dental, Vision Insurance: Comprehensive coverage to ensure you and your family stay healthy.
Generous Paid Time Off: Enjoy unlimited, high-trust PTO and sick leave.
Commuter Benefits: Save on transportation costs with our commuter benefits program.
Relocation Assistance: We offer financial and logistical support to help you transition to NYC with ease
Location
This role is based in our New York City office (Empire State Building) and requires consistent travel to customer sites.
Eligibility
