North is a technology company building the AI stack the legal industry runs on. The model is the brain. What makes it stick is everything we build around it: the harness that wires in a firm's entire corpus, the governed skill library, the agents, and the desktop the firm actually works in. Forward deployed engineering is where that stack meets the real world.

As an FDE you embed with a firm, learn its hardest workflows, and ship frontier AI into daily use. You build, you measure adoption, and you feed everything you learn straight back into the product.

This role is for people who really know Claude.
Not "used ChatGPT at work." We mean you live in Claude Code, you've built with agents, skills, MCP servers, and subagents, you have opinions about context engineering, and you can make Claude do things most people don't know are possible. If you've spent the last year pushing Claude to its limits on your own projects, that matters more to us than anything on a resume.

And it's a people job.
Half of this role happens away from the keyboard. You'll stand in front of a room of partners and make AI click for them. You'll sit next to an associate and teach until it sticks. The best FDEs are natural educators: they love explaining, they read a room, they build real relationships, and they measure their success by how many lawyers actually adopt what they built. If you're a brilliant engineer who'd rather not talk to people, this is not your role.

What you own
Embed on-site with flagship firms and map where the hours actually go.
Translate a firm's most idiosyncratic workflows (diligence, filings, memos, review) into firm-specific applications on our platform.
Teach the firm to use what you build: trainings, office hours, one-on-ones, until adoption is a habit and not an event.
Own deployments end to end, from first build to daily use to expansion.
Close the loop to product: what to productize, what stays bespoke.
Be the technical trust-builder in the room with partners, GCs, and IT and security.

What we look for
Deep, hands-on fluency with Claude: Claude Code, agents, MCP, retrieval, evals, prompt and context engineering.
A strong builder who can sit with a customer and ship, not just advise.
A natural educator who enjoys teaching and can make complex things feel simple to a skeptical, non-technical audience.
Someone who genuinely likes people: you build trust fast and keep relationships warm long after the deployment.
Experience is measured in what you've shipped, not years. New grads who have built serious things with Claude are explicitly encouraged to apply.
NYC-based or relocating. This is an in-person, embed-heavy role where you'll spend most of your working time with actual customers.

Nice to have
A forward-deployed, implementation, or solutions-engineering background (Palantir FDE, enterprise-AI deployment).
Teaching, coaching, or developer-relations experience of any kind, formal or not.
Direct legal or legaltech exposure.
Security and enterprise-readiness fluency (SOC 2, VPC, data governance).

Compensation
Competitive salary plus early-stage equity. Discussed during the process.
