HireArt is helping our client find a Firmware Validation Engineer (Brake & Steering) to support the validation of supplier-developed firmware within the chassis actuator engineering domain.

In this role, you’ll act as a critical bridge between external suppliers and internal engineering teams, ensuring brake and steering firmware meets system requirements through structured validation, testing, and debugging. You will play a key role in standing up and owning HIL validation environments while supporting vehicle-level diagnostics and issue resolution.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on validation engineer with strong experience in embedded systems and HIL infrastructure. You are comfortable working across hardware, firmware, and vehicle systems and thrive in environments that require deep debugging and cross-functional collaboration.

As a Firmware Validation Engineer, You'll

Define and specify HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) validation environments, including system architecture, components, and test setups.
Own the bring-up, operation, and maintenance of HIL systems used to validate brake and steering firmware.
Develop and execute structured test cases (manual and automated where applicable) to validate firmware performance against specifications.
Analyze vehicle logs and system traces using tools such as CANalyzer to diagnose issues and perform root cause analysis.
Collaborate closely with suppliers to investigate firmware defects, drive resolution, and implement corrective actions.
Monitor firmware performance against system requirements, validation metrics, and program timelines.
Partner with cross-functional teams across systems, firmware, and vehicle engineering to ensure alignment throughout development and validation cycles.

Requirements

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience
6+ years of experience in automotive or embedded systems validation
Direct experience owning or leading HIL validation environments, including system setup and execution
Strong experience with vehicle communication and logging tools (e.g., CANalyzer or similar)
Proven ability to debug complex issues across hardware, firmware, and vehicle systems
Experience developing and executing structured test cases for firmware validation
Strong root cause analysis skills using vehicle or system-level data
Experience working with external suppliers or Tier 1 partners

Bonus Qualifications

Experience with dSPACE or similar HIL platforms
Scripting or automation experience (Python preferred)
Experience with brake and/or steering systems or actuator controls
Familiarity with tools such as Polarion, Jira, or Confluence
