Field Engineer — Robotics Operations
Location: U.S. project sites (extensive travel) / based near a major West Coast tech hub
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
Deployment & Operations: Manage transport, setup, operation, and storage of robotic systems at active construction sites. Maintain consistent performance and output aligned with project goals.
Technical Troubleshooting: Independently diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational issues. Document problems, actions taken, and outcomes to support continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the main point of contact for on-site personnel, including project managers, supervisors, and equipment operators. Maintain clear, professional communication.
Daily Reporting: Provide concise updates on progress, challenges, and upcoming needs. Monitor productivity and coordinate logistics such as materials, parts, and scheduling.
Resource Management: Handle company-provided resources responsibly, including travel, lodging, and on-site purchases. Maintain accurate expense tracking and exercise sound judgment.
Safety Oversight: Ensure safe working conditions by following established protocols and responding appropriately to risks or incidents.
Feedback to Engineering: Share field insights to improve system performance and inform future development.
Qualifications
Proven reliability and ability to work independently over extended deployments
Strong problem-solving skills in mechanical, electrical, or operational contexts
Hands-on experience with tools, equipment, or system diagnostics
Experience managing resources or budgets responsibly
Professional communication skills in customer-facing environments
Willingness to travel frequently and work in varied outdoor conditions
Commitment to maintaining safe work practices
Required Skills
Background in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Experience with robotics, automation, heavy equipment, or large-scale construction projects
Previous responsibility as an on-site lead or representative
Additional language skills (e.g., Spanish)
Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA training)
Pay range and compensation package
