Role Overview
We are looking for a Factory Automation and Smart Manufacturing Manager to lead automation strategy, deployment and operational support within a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing facility.
The role will own plant automation, automated material handling, ASRS, AGV/AMR, robotics, equipment connectivity and Industry 4.0 initiatives. The position requires strong engineering leadership and hands-on experience implementing integrated automation solutions in semiconductor, electronics or advanced manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the site-wide factory automation and smart-manufacturing strategy.
Lead automation projects from requirement definition and design through commissioning and production acceptance.
Manage automatic material-handling systems, ASRS, AGVs, AMRs, robots and cobots.
Implement automated solutions for material movement, storage, handling, inspection and traceability.
Establish automation requirements, technical specifications, budgets, schedules and acceptance criteria.
Coordinate equipment, controls, software, facilities, manufacturing and IT integration.
Lead installation, commissioning, validation and production release of automation systems.
Integrate automation systems with MES, ERP, warehouse-management and factory-data platforms.
Improve factory productivity, equipment utilization, labour efficiency, quality and cycle time.
Monitor automation availability, alarms, bottlenecks, downtime and system performance.
Develop preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies for automation assets.
Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for chronic automation and material-flow issues.
Establish safety controls, risk assessments and compliance for robotics and automated equipment.
Manage automation suppliers, system integrators, equipment vendors and service partners.
Drive machine vision, industrial IoT, edge-data and AI-enabled manufacturing initiatives.
Develop common automation standards, architecture, interfaces and Best Known Methods.
Build and lead a multidisciplinary team of automation, controls, robotics and systems engineers.
Present project performance, operational risks, investment requirements and improvement roadmaps to leadership.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
12 18 years of experience in factory automation, smart manufacturing, industrial controls or automated material handling.
At least 5 years of experience leading automation teams or large-scale automation programs.
Experience in semiconductor, electronics, automotive, battery, pharmaceutical or other high-volume automated manufacturing.
Demonstrated experience deploying AGV/AMR, ASRS, robotics or integrated material-handling solutions.
Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, HMI, servo, motion-control and industrial communication systems.
Experience integrating automation equipment with MES, ERP or warehouse-management systems.
Proven ability to improve automation uptime, productivity, throughput and manufacturing efficiency.
Experience managing system integrators, equipment suppliers, project budgets and implementation schedules.
Ability to support automation escalations in a 24 7 manufacturing environment.
