Role Description This full-time hybrid role is based at the Ettimadai campus in Coimbatore, with flexibility for partial work from home as project needs permit. The position focuses on Explainable AI applied to hardware design, heterogeneous computing, design space optimization, and security, with responsibilities spanning research, development, and prototyping. Day-to-day tasks include designing and analyzing hardware architectures, developing explainable AI models for hardware performance and security, and conducting experiments to evaluate heterogeneous computing systems. The role involves collaborating with faculty, researchers, and industry partners to co-author publications, contribute to funded projects, and translate research into practical design methodologies and tools. The selected candidate will document findings, prepare technical reports and research papers, and support mentoring of students in related research and project work.
Qualifications
Strong skills in core hardware domains, including Hardware Development and Computer Hardware, with experience in experimentation and performance evaluation.
Competence in hardware design and implementation, covering Circuit Design and Hardware Architecture (Verilog/VHDL) for modern computing systems.
Experience or strong interest in Explainable AI, machine learning for systems and architectures, and design space exploration techniques.
Familiarity with heterogeneous computing platforms (e.g., CPU–GPU, FPGA-based systems) and security-aware hardware design is highly desirable.
Proficiency in programming and scripting languages commonly used in hardware and AI research (such as Python, C/C++, and relevant ML frameworks).
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, publish in reputable venues, and collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
Master’s or PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline; exceptional candidates with strong research potential may also be considered.
Strong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills, with a commitment to ethical, inclusive, and high-quality research practices.
