Job Title: Equipment Engineer
Job REQ ID: 86012
Position Type: Full Time
Location: Redmond WA (Onsite)
JD Hybrid Process/Equipment Engineering role
We are seeking a highly motivated Process & Equipment Engineer to support advanced nanofabrication, semiconductor processing, and post‑processing/packaging tool operations. This hybrid role combines responsibilities in process development, equipment health, tool maintenance, SPC monitoring, material handling, and root‑cause problem solving. The ideal candidate has experience working in cleanrooms, performing hands‑on equipment operations, and supporting production-quality process flows.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain tool performance, including routine review of SPC data, process health indicators, and equipment metrics to ensure stable operations and high-quality output.
Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions (RCA/CAPA) for both process deviations and equipment failures.
Execute and support preventative maintenance (PM) on a wide range of nanofabrication, cleanroom, and post‑processing/packaging tools following industry best practices and manufacturer guidelines.
Conduct equipment repairs, troubleshooting, and recovery actions, collaborating with vendors, facilities, and process teams as needed.
Manage tool health, including tracking consumables, spare parts, materials, and coordinating upgrades, PMs, and corrective maintenance with cross-functional teams.
Perform material characterization and use metrology tools (profilometry, ellipsometry, microscope inspection, defect scanning, etc.) to verify process results.
Support operation and maintenance of vacuum-based systems such as PVD, PECVD, LPCVD, ALD, RIE/ICP tools, including vacuum pump checks, leak tests, and chamber conditioning.
Execute cleanroom material handling, including safe handling of wafers, substrates, chemicals, gases, hazardous materials, and process consumables.
Maintain compliance with cleanroom protocols, safety expectations, contamination control standards, and required PPE—including respirators when needed.
Support installation, testing, and qualification of new tools, modules, subsystems, or hardware upgrades.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related field. Experience in micro-/nano‑fabrication or semiconductor processing is strongly preferred.
Professional experience in Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
Experience operating semiconductor or nanofabrication tools and machine interfaces.
Strong collaborative skills; able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
Willingness to work in a cleanroom environment and use appropriate PPE, including respirators.
Comfortable supporting physically demanding maintenance tasks requiring bending, lifting, reaching, and kneeling.
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities, production needs, and engineering challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in vacuum systems maintenance and troubleshooting.
Hands-on work with semiconductor deposition, etch, lithography, NIL, metrology, or packaging tools.
Knowledge of wet chemistry processes, gas handling, and hazardous material safety.
Ability to design and interpret experiments (DOE) for process optimization.
