Lead and mentor team responsible for developing and maintaining analog and digital control systems to enable next generation SMR and existing BWR nuclear power plants to operate safely, efficiently, and sustainably. Focus on work planning, technical approach, design assurance, and execution excellence.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Lead preparation of high thru low work planning, scheduling, and resource loading across lifecycle phases of Engineer-Procure-Construct or new product introduction using the applicable practices, guides, and tools

Support project engineering or manager with understanding execution metric and status, issues, risks, mitigation or recovering plans, and be extremely proactive to identify changes in scope

Drive compliance utilizing scope, detailed work planning, budget, overall schedule, applicable design processes, and discipline specific practices and tools including design and technical reviews

Lead “day-to-day” operations and follow-up to ensure deliverables are produced and commitments met on-spec., on-budget, and on-schedule

Coordinate proactively and inclusively for overall team across other engineering disciplines to support integrated plant design objectives

Collaborate with project management, project engineering, support functions, and others to drive project completion

Identify, confirm, document, and lead resolution of technical, risk, other emergent issues

Provide technical oversight and mentorship to ensure system designs and deliverables comply with requirements throughout design release to manufacturing or supplier including production, validation, installation, and commission tests

Support strategy, plan, statement of work preparation, and implementation of resource loading

Assist with hosting learning sessions, knowledge capture, and transfer initiatives

Use variety of tools for requirements, design, change, configuration, and document management

Champion nuclear safety culture; Ensure compliance with GEH policies, quality management system, and corrective action program

Deliver work with integrity, safety, security, quality, and on-time output

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, or Mathematics or equivalent 4-year technical degree

Minimum of 10 years of application, field installation, and test engineering of systems, equipment, and components including selection and qualification to diverse industry standards

Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial nuclear industry working in plant instrumentation application, control and monitoring system hardware design, including implementation, test, installation, and commissioning

Minimum of 5 years of experience performing independent, or preferably team based, system design or technical reviews including interfacing with requirements management, independent verification and validation

Relocation to Wilmington, NC is required

Desired Characteristics

Experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation, control, monitoring, electric power system and field engineering

Competency in industry standards IEEE, IEC, IPC, and quality standards

Competency in modeling and test data collection tools

Clear thinker, detail oriented, insightful, quantitative, balanced, and a results-oriented analyst and leader

Proven track record of delivering commitments on specification, on budget, and on schedule

Strong verbal communication, as well as, facilitation and presentation skills for technical and business audiences – Able to communicate openly, calmly, and crisply in stressful situations

Adaptive; able to quickly learn diverse and varying organizational interfaces with professional astuteness

Continuous improvement mindset with an ability to identify, influence, and implement better ways to do an activity or process

Solid technical writing skills with focus on requirements and design documents

Knowledge and experience with PCB design, signal analysis and system verification tools (Altium, PSpice, SystemVerilog, UVM, etc.)

Knowledge and experience with common HDL languages and PLD/FPGA development tools (Quartus, Vivado, ModelSim, Questa, etc.).

General knowledge and experience of schematic design, PCB layout, and PCB manufacturing.

Experienced in product, instrument, system design, verification, validation, and qualification

Solves technical challenges through application of common design patterns and identifying appropriate patterns for use in problem solving

Experience in design verification and validation

Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to articulate clearly

Contributes to creative solutions and challenges status quo

Proactively learns new tools and identifies opportunities for improvement and promotes their adoption

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $111,200.00 and $213,200.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
