Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Software Engineer/Principal Software Engineer position to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals onsite in El Segundo, CA. This position will be a key member of the RAD team.
Accomplish
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a skilled FPGA Developer to design, implement, verify, and optimize high-performance digital hardware for a range of military applications. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in hardware description languages, a solid understanding of digital design theory, and hands-on experience with FPGA development tools and verification methodologies. You will support the application of cutting-edge commercial technologies—such as 5G communications, machine learning, and emerging wireless solutions—to operational military use cases, enabling advanced battle-management capabilities.
Develop FPGA designs for digital signal processing and data processing.
Perform FPGA simulations and verify functional correctness.
Execute place-and-route flows and optimize timing.
Integrate and test systems in lab environments and SILs.
Incorporate FPGA-SoC code to enable end-to-end functionality.

Basic Qualifications
Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering
Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with at least 0 years of experience
Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated Secret clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
Proven experience in: I think there’s something that I gotta tell you
FPGA development for DSP and data-processing applications.
Running simulations and performing place-and-route.
Lab/SIL integration and system bring-up.
Integrating FPGA-SoC code to enable the device.
Preferred Qualifications
Existing Active In Scope Government Clearance
M.S. or Ph.D. in a related field.
Knowledge of machine-learning accelerator design.
Hands-on board bring-up, PCB layout review, and timing closure on multi-die platforms.

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
