R&D Engineer II:
This engineer will add more design and testing capabilities to a fast-paced development organization. This role will focus on Solidworks design work supporting development projects and test fixturing, design verification and prototype testing, and technical support of the R&D lab and equipment.
This role will also assist in supporting active programs in commercial production and new product development. EnableCV is based in Midvale, UT and this role will be located on site at the enableCV headquarters. Our hybrid policy requires 3 days minimum on-site in office (4 days may be required for certain roles or during certain projects/milestones/events). This is a flexible on-site role which will thrive in a collaborative, start up like environment.
Essential Job Functions
Support R&D projects through collaborative problem solving, prototyping, test method development, and fixture design and fabrication - 30% of time
Generate and revise engineering models, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks - 30% of time
Test execution, data analysis and protocol/report writing - 20% of time
Oversee and maintain prototyping equipment / supplies in R&D lab
3D printer – Service, Material Procurement, Regular Maintenance - 10% of time
Other duties as required to support company priorities - 10% of time
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering with at least 3 years of previous related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
The ideal candidate possesses strong hands-on mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience in design, prototyping, and testing. They have proven expertise in SolidWorks and working knowledge of SolidWorks PDM, along with experience using power tools, laboratory equipment, and 3D printers to support product development activities. Experience with catheter, cannula, balloon, tipping, overmolding, and injection molding technologies is highly desirable.
The candidate demonstrates excellent documentation, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and organizational levels. They possess strong problem-solving, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities, with a demonstrated commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
A solid understanding of statistical methods is required, including Gage R&R studies, capability analysis, and hypothesis testing. The individual should have experience developing test methods for design verification and demonstrating compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will either possess current proficiency or be capable of quickly developing proficiency in a variety of laboratory and verification test methods. These include dimensional inspection using vision systems (OGP SmartScope) and laser micrometers; tensile and compression testing using Instron equipment; flow testing utilizing pumps and pressure sensors; air pressure decay and flow testing; and compliant balloon testing, including inflation, creep, and burst testing using syringe pumps.
The candidate must be capable of interacting professionally with personnel at all organizational levels and effectively managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work successfully within a team environment are essential.
In addition, the individual is expected to adhere to all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and requirements. They must take appropriate preventive measures to protect themselves and others from injury and exercise responsibility for maintaining a safe workplace within their area of influence and control.
