A small but growing energy efficiency and process engineering firm located downtown is seeking a full time experienced chemical or mechanical engineer with 5 to 10 years of experience in energy efficiency to support its growing business.

Candidate should be motivated to learn, a self-starter and be willing to travel when it is safe to do so; this is not a purely office based position. Mechanical and thermal system design experience is a plus.

Kinergetics’ work is highly variable and includes evaluation of facilities to identify energy efficiency and cost reduction projects, design and engineering related predominantly to industrial facilities.

R&D activities are addressed as needed to develop new ideas and support business diversification efforts. Some general renewable energy (solar power, solar thermal, wind, etc.) will also be encountered, but it is not our focus at this time.

The successful candidate will find a challenging but friendly work environment, an understanding that there is life beyond work, and benefits (insurance, 401k, profit sharing, bonuses) after 1 year. Travel is required and can be up to 50 percent at times (monthly), though this is not the norm.

Below is a more detailed summary of what to expect:
1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or a similar discapline is required, with interest in industrial process energy efficiency and design. Fundamental understanding of and ability to apply mass and energy balances is assumed.
2. Must be self-motivated, willing and eager to learn new things at a relatively rapid pace.
3. Experience in data analytics and python programming is a plus.
4. Clear communication and report writing skills will be required, but can be developed to some degree on the job.
5. Computer skills: Predominantly Microsoft Office but familiarity with EES, Python and AutoCAD software (Plant 3D/P&ID) are a plus.
6. Mechanical and process design experience is a plus.
7. The ability to work in uncomfortable (hot, cold, wet, etc.) environments, with physical exertion is required at times.
8. Mix of field to office work is about 30/70, but can vary to one end or the other.
9. Must be willing to travel overnight, primarily in the Midwest, but possibly elsewhere in the Continental United States or abroad.
10. We are a small firm and are hoping to find a candidate interested in staying in the area and would be interested in a more long term job.
