Akkodis is seeking a Embedded HW Engineer for a 2 year contract job with a client in Greensboro, NC.
Rate Range: $60/hr.-$65/hr.; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Position Overview:
Seeking two Senior Embedded Hardware Engineers to support product cost reduction and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives. The role focuses on redesigning and optimizing PCBAs to reduce BOM and manufacturing costs while maintaining performance, quality, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and redesign schematics to reduce components and hardware costs.
Optimize PCB layouts, board size, layer count, and routing.
Identify cost-effective component alternatives and secondary sources.
Apply DFM/DFA principles to improve manufacturing and assembly efficiency.
Build, debug, and test hardware prototypes using lab equipment.
Support EMI/EMC, environmental, safety, and regression testing.
Manage ECOs and update schematics, BOMs, Gerber files, and manufacturing documentation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
3+ years of embedded hardware development experience.
Proven experience with hardware redesign or cost-reduction projects.
Strong Cadence PCB design experience.
Knowledge of electronic components, BOM cost drivers, PCB fabrication, SMT, ICT/FCT.
Hands-on soldering, prototyping, debugging, and component-level troubleshooting experience.
