About Origin

Origin (previously 10xConstruction) is building general-purpose autonomous robots for US construction to tackle rising costs, safety risks, and labour shortages. Our modular, multi-trade platform combines purpose-built hardware with real-time site intelligence to navigate complex environments and execute tasks with precision. Trained in high-fidelity simulation and already deployed on live sites, our robots deliver 5x faster execution, 250%+ margin expansion, and significant cost savings. Join India's most talent-dense robotics team consisting of individuals from IITs, Stanford, UCLA, etc.

About The Role

As an Embedded Hardware Engineer, you are the core execution engine of the hardware team. You will be actively capturing schematics, routing boards, sourcing components, and assembling test rigs. You will bridge the gap between theoretical design and physical reality, ensuring that our robots have the reliable power and electrical interfaces they need to operate autonomously.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Design & Execution:

Design schematic diagrams and perform PCB layouts for intermediate-complexity boards (e.g., LED drivers, logic level shifters, sensor interfaces)
Perform power budget calculations and select appropriate DC-DC converters, MOSFETs, and passive components
Draft wire harness schematics and work with technicians or suppliers to build them

Prototyping, Bring-Up & HIL:

Take delivery of new PCB spins, populate them (soldering), and execute systematic bring-up and validation plans
Design, build, and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test setups. Write Python/C++ automation scripts to run continuous integration tests on hardware
Develop basic firmware scripts to test I2C/SPI sensors, ADCs, and CAN transceivers on newly designed boards
Build mechanical and electrical test jigs to cycle-test power components under high loads

Hardware Defined Safety:

Design schematics for localized hardware safety features, such as opto-isolated interlocks, hardware-level watchdog timers, and fault-latching logic. Wire and connect hardware error outputs from various sensors and controllers directly to primary safety relays to ensure power is securely cut during a component failure

Component Management:

Manage the BOM (Bill of Materials), source alternate components to navigate supply chain shortages, and communicate with vendors

Required Qualifications And Skills

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field
2-4 years of professional experience in schematic capture and PCB layout
Solid understanding of analogue and digital circuit design fundamentals
Hands-on experience building and maintaining HIL test benches
Hands-on experience with lab equipment: DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and logic analysers
Practical knowledge of high-current wiring, crimping, and connector selection (e.g., Deutsch, Molex)
Ability to read and understand component datasheets thoroughly

Preferred Experiences

Experience with Altium Designer
Background in designing hardware for harsh environments
