Role Description
The Embedded Firmware Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Tucson, AZ. This role involves designing, implementing, and testing embedded firmware and software for industrial data acquisition, control, and signal conditioning products. Day-to-day tasks include developing and optimizing code for microcontrollers and embedded systems, debugging and resolving firmware issues, and collaborating closely with electrical and hardware engineering teams to integrate firmware with new and existing products. The engineer will participate in design reviews, create technical documentation, and support product validation and verification activities. Additional responsibilities include maintaining existing firmware platforms, contributing to product improvements, and ensuring designs meet quality, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Strong embedded software and firmware development skills, including experience with real-time systems and microcontroller-based designs.
Proficiency in debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis of embedded systems in laboratory and field environments.
Solid foundation in electrical engineering principles relevant to mixed-signal, analog, and digital circuit integration with embedded firmware.
Experience with general software development practices, including version control, documentation, and collaborative workflows.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; an advanced degree is beneficial.
Familiarity with industrial electronics, data acquisition, control systems, or signal conditioning is preferred.
Ability to work on-site in Tucson, AZ, collaborate in cross-functional teams, and communicate technical concepts clearly in writing and speaking.
Knowledge of C/C++, embedded operating systems, hardware interfaces (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART), and test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers is a plus.
