Position Summary
The Electronics Test & Systems Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining test solutions for electronic assemblies, embedded systems, and production products. This role bridges hardware and software disciplines by combining automated test development, electronic troubleshooting, prototype rework, validation engineering, and manufacturing support.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, developing automated testing solutions, and working closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure products meet performance, reliability, and customer requirements.
This position requires strong knowledge of electronics, embedded systems, software development, and laboratory test equipment, along with the ability to diagnose failures at both the component and system level.
Key Responsibilities
Test Development & Automation
Design, develop, and maintain automated test systems for electronic assemblies, embedded products, and production validation.
Create automated test scripts and software tools using Python, C/C++, LabVIEW, or similar programming environments.
Develop test frameworks that improve efficiency, repeatability, and accuracy of product verification.
Interface with embedded devices, microcontrollers, sensors, communication modules, and instrumentation equipment.
Support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), functional, environmental, and production testing activities.
Design and document repeatable test procedures for engineering validation, manufacturing, and customer-specific requirements.
Integrate laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, digital multimeters, signal generators, and data acquisition systems into automated test environments.
Develop test reports and performance metrics to support engineering decisions and product qualification.
Hardware Troubleshooting & Failure Analysis
Diagnose and troubleshoot failures in printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), embedded systems, and electronic products.
Perform detailed root-cause analysis of electrical, firmware, and system-level failures.
Utilize oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, thermal imaging equipment, and other diagnostic tools to identify issues.
Debug digital, analog, mixed-signal, and power electronic circuits.
Analyze component-level failures and determine corrective actions to improve reliability and manufacturability.
Work closely with design engineers to resolve hardware and system integration issues.
Support customer-return investigations and failure analysis activities when required.
PCB Rework, Prototyping & Engineering Support
Perform precision soldering and desoldering of surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole components.
Rework fine-pitch integrated circuits, BGAs, connectors, and other complex electronic components.
Modify prototype boards and engineering samples during product development and validation.
Assist with engineering builds, prototype bring-up, and first-article testing.
Support engineering change implementation and verification activities.
Maintain prototype documentation and engineering records.
Product Validation & Verification
Develop comprehensive validation plans and test procedures based on engineering requirements and customer specifications.
Verify product functionality, performance, reliability, and safety under expected operating conditions.
Conduct Design Verification Testing (DVT), Product Validation Testing (PVT), and qualification testing activities.
Evaluate product performance across environmental, thermal, electrical, and mechanical operating conditions.
Document test results, observations, anomalies, and recommendations.
Ensure traceability and proper documentation of all validation activities.
Manufacturing & Production Support
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to improve production testing processes and product quality.
Support development of manufacturing test fixtures, test stations, and production diagnostics.
Assist in resolving production-related quality and test issues.
Analyze manufacturing yield data and identify opportunities for process improvements.
Work with quality and production personnel to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Provide technical guidance during new product introduction (NPI) activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with hardware, firmware, software, manufacturing, and quality teams throughout product development and production.
Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations related to testability, manufacturability, and reliability.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Communicate technical findings and recommendations to engineering leadership and project stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card holder).
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
Equivalent combination of education and relevant practical experience may be considered.
Experience developing software for hardware interaction, automation, or test systems using Python, C/C++, LabVIEW, or similar languages.
