Electrical Testing Field Engineer 2
We are seeking an Electrical Testing Field Engineer 2 to perform acceptance testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical power systems and protective relaying equipment. This is a full-time position with opportunities available in both Northern Virginia and Quincy, Washington
.
The role offers the opportunity to work with advanced electrical testing equipment, support critical infrastructure projects, and contribute to complex power system installation

What You'll DoInstall, program, test, maintain, and troubleshoot protective relaying and metering syst
ems.Perform acceptance and maintenance testing of electrical power systems in accordance with industry standa
rds.Conduct protective relay testing, calibration, programming, and commissioning activit
ies.Perform circuit breaker and switchgear testing, including timing, primary injection, and secondary injection test
ing.Test transformers, including turns ratio, insulation resistance, and power factor test
ing.Analyze test results and electrical diagrams to identify equipment issues and determine corrective acti
ons.Troubleshoot electrical faults and perform root cause analysis on system failu
res.Coordinate testing, repairs, and maintenance activities with other technical person
nel.Install, maintain, repair, and program relays and associated electrical equipm
ent.Commission new relay and metering installati
ons.Perform maintenance and testing on standby generators, display meters, and related equipm
ent.Prepare detailed testing reports and documentation for client review and compliance purpo
ses.Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requireme
nts.Participate in emergency call-out activities as requi
red.Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians when nee
ded.Perform other duties and special projects as assig
ned.
What You'll BringHigh school diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant electrical experienc
e, ORAssociate degree with 2+ years of relevant electrical experienc
e, ORBachelor's degree with 1+ year of relevant electrical experi
ence.Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving re
cord.Experience performing electrical testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance activi
ties.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical man
uals.Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NETA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA electrical standards and safety pract
ices.Experience with protective relays, circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and related electrical equip
ment.Experience using electrical test equipment such as Doble, Omicron, Megger, Vanguard, and Fluke instrum
ents.Understanding of insulation resistance, power factor, contact resistance, and Hi-Pot testing proced
ures.Knowledge of medium- and high-voltage electrical sys
tems.Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and analytical sk
ills.Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and qua
lity.Willingness to travel and work in industrial, utility, and data center environm
ents.

stance.Ability to work at heights up to 60 feet and safely use ladders, scaffolds, catwalks, and aerial
lifts.Ability to walk, climb, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine
basis.Ability to distinguish colors, communicate effectively in English, and work safely in active electrical enviro
nments.Ability to recognize potential equipment and system issues and respond appropr
