For our client, we are seeking a Electrical Engineer - Substation Design to join the team of a leader in the Technical Services space. This role will lead technical initiatives focused on scalable systems, platform reliability, and meaningful business transformation. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a Technical Services environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $147,000 – $175,000 annually
Responsibilities
Lead the design of new and upgraded electrical substations (69kV to 500kV)
Develop and review physical layouts, bus configurations, grounding systems, and cable schedules
Perform and review critical electrical calculations including ground grid analysis and short-circuit support
Prepare construction drawings, technical specifications, and design reports
Coordinate substation design with protection and control engineers and SCADA teams
Serve as lead engineer on projects and provide quality control reviews
Support project managers with scope, cost estimating, scheduling, and risk identification
Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field
Minimum 8 years of experience in substation or power delivery engineering
Strong understanding of substation equipment and protection philosophies
Proven ability to lead technical tasks and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
