Electrical Engineer
Position Overview
The Electrical Engineer will perform mid- to high-complexity design and project management on a variety of projects, acting as a lead or support resource for prime and sub-consultant work under the direction of the client or [company] engineering management. Typical design work includes low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, motor control circuits, raceway systems, fire alarm systems, underground utility plans and profiles, interior and outdoor lighting systems, cathodic protection systems, panelboard and apparatus schedules, and interfacing with utility companies.
What You Will Do
Electrical engineering from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancy.
Coordinate with multiple disciplines and act as the lead electrical engineer to ensure projects are delivered on budget and on schedule.
Keep management informed of any quality, schedule, or budget variances in a timely manner.
Prepare contract amendments, change order documentation, and claim documentation.
Review and approve shop drawings and attend client meetings during construction administration.
Write reports for internal and external audiences based on project findings.
Ensure discipline plans meet overall project team requirements for scope and schedule.
Prepare project documents and reports in accordance with the project quality plan.
Stay current on codes and technologies relevant to the electrical and fire alarm disciplines.
Research, develop, design, specify, and witness testing of electrical systems, equipment, and components.
Organize and conduct site visits for data collection and evaluation of electrical systems and equipment, including projects without well-defined scopes.
Develop designs in a BIM environment.
Develop, design, and specify site electrical power, equipment, and components.
Develop, design, and specify equipment and materials for all building electrical systems.
Complete engineering and design tasks in accordance with client criteria and applicable codes and standards.
Report safety, health, and quality issues to management.
Mentor and support junior team members.
Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
Four-year technical degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
6–8 years of relevant electrical design experience.
EIT or PE license preferred.
LEED, lighting design, or similar certification preferred.
Familiarity with discipline-specific design software and design management systems.
Revit proficiency.
Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel, plus AutoCAD or MicroStation.
Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
Knowledge of standard format specification development.
