Description

We are seeking a technically rigorous Electrical Engineer with deep expertise in low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems within a switchgear OEM or equipment manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, and mission-critical infrastructure such as data centers, along with working knowledge of UL508A industrial control panel design.

This position focuses primarily on power distribution engineering, with control panel integration serving as a supporting capability.

Requirements

Required Responsibility

Power Distribution Systems (Primary Focus)
Design, engineer, and support the manufacturing of:
Low- and medium-voltage switchgear (UL891, UL1558)
Switchboards and panelboards (UL67)
Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
Distribution transformers (dry-type and liquid-filled)
Develop and review single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and interconnection drawings.
Perform:
Short circuit analysis
Arc flash hazard analysis (IEEE 1584)
Protective device coordination studies
Load flow and voltage drop calculations
Ensure proper equipment SCCR alignment and bus bracing requirements.
Evaluate breaker selection, trip units, and coordination schemes.
Support equipment submittals, factory testing, and customer technical reviews.
Interface with utilities, consulting engineers, EPC firms, and data center operators.
Support FAT, commissioning, and field troubleshooting when required.

Industrial Control Systems (Secondary Focus – UL508A)

Design and review UL508A control panels associated with switchgear and MCC applications.
Generate control schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
Perform SCCR calculations in accordance with UL508A.
Integrate PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, protective relays, and monitoring systems.
Support UL inspection requirements and maintain panel compliance documentation.
Provide technical support to manufacturing teams for proper control wiring practices.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related discipline.
5+ years of experience in power distribution engineering.
Demonstrated experience in:
Switchgear and switchboard design
MCC systems
Transformer applications
Data center power distribution architecture
Working knowledge of UL508A control panel design.
Strong knowledge of:
NEC (NFPA 70)
NFPA 70E
IEEE 1584 (arc flash)
IEEE 242 (coordination)
Relevant UL standards (UL891, UL1558, UL67, UL508A)
Experience with SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a switchgear OEM manufacturing environment.
UL508A MTR (Manufacturer Technical Representative).
Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification not required but would be a bonus
Experience with Tier III / Tier IV data center infrastructure.
Knowledge of UL98, UL1066, and protective relay integration.

Key Competencies

Strong understanding of short circuit withstand ratings and bus bracing.
Expertise in protective device coordination and selective coordination strategies.
Clear understanding of upstream/downstream equipment rating relationships.
Practical knowledge of grounding, bonding, and fault current pathways.
Ability to work cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and field service teams.
Detail-oriented with a compliance-driven engineering mindset.
