Job Summary
BEI Precision is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the development of advanced electromechanical mechanisms including motions sensors and motion control systems for aerospace, defense, and space applications. Reporting to the Director of Product Engineering, this role is responsible for leading new product development projects from concept through production, with a focus on high-reliability analog and digital circuit design, PCB development, and design verification testing.
This position plays a critical leadership role within the Engineering Department, driving innovation, technical excellence, and execution in alignment with Arxis’ core principles: Dream Big, Have Fun, and GSD (Get Stuff Done). The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead cross-functional project teams, manage technical risk, and ensure designs meet rigorous industry and customer standards.
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of successfully launching new products in aerospace and/or defense environments. Most work will be conducted on-site at BEI Precision’s facility in Maumelle, Arkansas, supporting collaboration, rapid iteration, and hands-on product development.
Duties And Responsibilities
Lead electrical engineering efforts for new product development projects involving electromechanical systems and rotary motion control systems.
Architect and design analog and digital circuits for high-reliability aerospace and defense applications.
Design and develop motor control systems including closed-loop feedback control architectures.
Lead PCB design activities including schematic capture, component selection, and layout development.
Drive system-level integration and test of electrical, mechanical, and firmware components.
Develop and validate control system algorithms; utilize tools such as MATLAB or similar platforms for modeling and analysis.
Collaborate with embedded software engineers to support control implementation and system functionality.
Oversee prototype builds, testing, debugging, verification, and validation activities.
Ensure compliance with aerospace and defense industry standards and customer specifications.
Lead technical reviews, design reviews, FMEAs, and root cause investigations.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a high-accountability, high-performance engineering culture.
Manage technical scope, schedules, risk mitigation plans, and cross-functional coordination.
Support production transition, qualification testing, and customer technical interface as required.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Arxis ACE principles (Accountability, Collaboration, Empowerment).
Required Skills And Abilities
Knowledge Of:
Analog and digital circuit design principles
Closed-loop control systems and feedback sensor integration
Motor control systems and power electronics
PCB design and development
Aerospace and/or defense product development lifecycle
Design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for reliability (DFR)
Industry standards relevant to aerospace, defense, and high-reliability electronics
Embedded systems fundamentals
