About OxiWear

OxiWear is building next-generation wearable technology focused on real-time health measurement. Our mission is to deliver life-saving insights through innovative hardware and software solutions in compact, user-friendly devices. Through a first of its kind, FDA 510(k) cleared ear-wearable device, OxiWear provides continuous real-time measurement of blood oxygen and pulse rate while still and during motion, with accuracy across all skin tones.

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to help design and develop mixed-signal hardware systems for our wearable devices. You will contribute across the full hardware lifecycle—from early concept and prototyping through validation and production.

This is a highly collaborative, in-office role working closely with firmware, mechanical, and product teams in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

Co-own hardware development alongside the lead EE, contributing to full systems and subsystem designs
Participate in architecture, schematic design, PCB layout, and design reviews
Lead hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation
Develop and execute design of experiments (DOE) to characterize system performance
Define and execute test plans; analyze and document results
Create and maintain technical documentation, including: Requirements and specifications | Test plans and reports | Risk analysis and mitigation documentation
Support regulatory and compliance efforts, including: Requirements traceability and risk controls | Coordination with external test labs | Facilitate data collection, calibration, and clinical studies
Work with manufacturing partners (domestic and overseas) for prototyping and production
Assist with supplier selection, qualification, and component validation
Build and prototype hardware in-house (soldering, rework, board bring-up)
Develop scripts/tools (Python/C) for test automation, programming, and data collection

Must-Have Qualifications

Strong experience in mixed-signal hardware design, including MCU-based systems and power (battery management, charging, regulators)
Proven ability to contribute to end-to-end hardware development, from concept through bring-up, validation, and production
Solid understanding of system-level design, including requirements, specifications, and design tradeoffs
Experience with hardware testing and validation, including defining test plans, executing experiments, and analyzing results
Familiarity with designing for manufacturability (DFM) and working with contract manufacturers and suppliers
Hands-on proficiency with electronics lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, etc.)
Strong hands-on prototyping skills, including soldering, rework, and board bring-up
Experience contributing to technical documentation (test reports, specifications, design documentation)

Highly Preferred Qualifications

Experience with regulated product development (medical, ATEX, or similar), including: Requirements traceability | Risk analysis and mitigation | Supporting regulatory submissions
Experience with wearables or resource-constrained devices
Experience working with compliance and test labs
Knowledge of RF/wireless systems (BLE preferred)
Experience with Altium Designer
Familiarity with firmware development (C/C++, Python), especially for: Debugging and bring-up | Test automation and data capture
Experience with Nordic nRF platforms or Zephyr RTOS
Familiarity with MATLAB or GNU Octave
Basic mechanical CAD experience (Fusion 360 preferred)
Experience with 3D printing workflows
Experience with sensor systems (e.g., PPG, pulse oximetry) or clinical environments

What We’re Looking For

A hands-on, product-oriented engineer comfortable working across the full hardware lifecycle
Someone who thrives in a startup environment—able to operate in ambiguity early and transition to structured, process-driven development
A strong systems thinker who can balance design, testing, and documentation
Comfortable with exploration and research, including validating new technologies
High attention to detail and quality, especially in regulated environments
Willingness to work in the lab daily, building, debugging, and iterating on hardware

What We Offer

90-140K
Equity in a fast-growing company
Competitive Health Insurance
Opportunity to work on impactful, life-improving technology
Highly collaborative, in-person engineering culture
Broad ownership and ability to influence product direction
