Location: Naperville, IL (Onsite)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Eligibility Requirement:
Due to ITAR and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) requirements, candidates must be U.S. Citizens.
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer to join a growing engineering team focused on the development of complex electronic products supporting aerospace, defense, industrial, medical, and other high-reliability applications.
This role is ideal for a versatile engineer who enjoys contributing across multiple disciplines including hardware design, schematic development, PCB review, troubleshooting, validation, and product development. The team is building a strong technical bench and succession plan, creating opportunities for engineers who want to expand their technical influence and grow into future technical leadership roles.
The ideal candidate is a strong technical contributor with broad engineering capabilities, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to support products throughout the entire development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware & Electronic Design
Design, develop, and validate electronic hardware solutions for high-reliability products.
Create, review, and modify schematics for analog, digital, mixed-signal, RF, embedded, and power electronics applications.
Review PCB layouts to ensure performance, manufacturability, reliability, and compliance with design requirements.
Participate in architecture discussions, component selection, design trade studies, and technical decision-making.
Product Development & Validation
Support projects from concept, design, and prototyping through validation, production release, and sustaining engineering.
Troubleshoot complex hardware issues through testing, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management.
Support product verification, qualification testing, and design reviews.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
Participate in design reviews and engineering best-practice initiatives.
Help develop engineering processes, standards, and design methodologies.
Contribute to succession planning efforts by sharing knowledge and supporting team development.
Desired Technical Experience
Candidates should possess experience in one or more of the following areas:
Digital Design
Analog Circuit Design
Power Electronics and Power Supply Design
RF Design
Embedded Systems
FPGA Development
Hardware Design
PCB Design and Layout
Mixed-Signal Electronics
The strongest candidates will demonstrate the ability to contribute across multiple disciplines rather than deep specialization in only one area.
Preferred Tools & Technologies
Experience with any combination of the following tools is highly desirable:
Altium Designer
Cadence (Allegro, OrCAD)
LTSpice
HyperLynx
HFSS
PCB Layout Tools
Schematic Capture Tools
Note: Experience with every tool listed is not required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Computer Engineering (BSCE), Computer Science (BSCS), Software Engineering (BSWE), or related engineering discipline.
5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Ability to review schematics and PCB layouts.
Experience supporting hardware development projects from design through testing and production.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
8–10+ years of engineering experience.
Experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, telecommunications, industrial controls, or other high-reliability industries.
Experience with customer-facing technical discussions or program leadership.
Full product lifecycle ownership from concept through production.
Prior technical leadership, mentoring, or team development experience.
Additional Information
Valor / DFM Experience
Experience with Valor is not required.
The team has confirmed that candidates can be trained on Valor and other DFM tools. Greater emphasis is placed on:
PCB design and layout experience
CAD proficiency
Hardware design capability
Ability to review and evaluate board layouts
