Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Medium Voltage Power Systems

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of medium-voltage power generation, conversion, and distribution systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in MV electrical systems, power circuit design, electrical system studies, component selection, and industry standards. This role will also provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop medium-voltage (1 kV–38 kV) power systems, including switchgear, transformers, generators, inverters, and paralleling equipment.
Perform load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, protection coordination, and insulation coordination studies.
Design power circuits and select/size transformers, breakers, contactors, busbars, cables, and grounding systems.
Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and component specifications.
Support new product development from concept through production release and market launch.
Develop and execute electrical validation and testing plans, including dielectric/hipot, environmental, fault-injection, and system-level testing.
Ensure compliance with UL, IEC, NEC, IEEE, CSA, ANSI, and other applicable standards.
Support EMC/EMI design, mitigation, and compliance testing.
Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, designers, and cross-functional teams to improve cost, reliability, safety, and manufacturability.
Use tools such as ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent for electrical design and analysis.
Lead technical problem-solving and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
Manage multiple engineering projects while meeting schedule, cost, quality, and technical requirements.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
7+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong experience with medium-voltage power systems and equipment.
Experience with power generation, power conversion, or power distribution.
Knowledge of power electronics, including rectifiers, inverters, and DC/DC converters.
Experience with insulation coordination, BIL, creepage/clearance, dielectric/hipot, and partial discharge testing.
Experience with EMC/EMI and electrical safety requirements.
Experience with ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar tools.
Knowledge of SAP/ERP and Microsoft Office.
Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and technical problem-solving skills.
Experience leading projects and mentoring engineering teams.
