## About Truffle
We're building Truffle-1, a compact, efficient AI inference computer designed to run open-source models locally and portably. Our products run models on-device, with no cloud dependency, so customers own their data and their compute.

Our current product line spans the Truffle-1 (an NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin based appliance running large language models locally at usable speeds) and novel compute avenues. We design these end to end and manufacture them through overseas and domestic partners.
We are a small team that moves fast. Engineering decisions here turn into shipped product in weeks, not quarters.

## The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Electrical Engineer who can own hardware from schematic through bring-up through production. You will work shoulder to shoulder with mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing across the whole product, not just one corner of it. This is a high-ownership role on a lean team, which means broad scope and very little waiting around for permission.

## What You'll Do
- Design and verify carrier boards and custom PCBs around high-performance compute modules.
- Own power delivery: input protection, regulation, sequencing, and budgeting for compute, storage, and accelerators.
- Handle high-speed digital design (DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet) with attention to signal integrity, length matching, and stackup.
- Integrate RF subsystems
- Do board bring-up and debug at the bench, from first power-on through validation
- Support FCC and EMC compliance
- Drive design for manufacturability with our contract manufacturers, review DFM feedback, and keep boards buildable and testable at volume.
- Generate and maintain clean schematics, BOMs, fab and assembly documentation
- Pitch in across the broader hardware effort as a small team requires, including thermal, mechanical interfaces, and supply chain tradeoffs.

## What We're Looking For
- BS in Electrical Engineering
- Solid schematic capture and PCB layout skills in a professional tool (Altium, KiCad, or similar).
- Real experience with electronics and design for embedded compute.
- Working knowledge of high-speed digital interfaces and the signal integrity that goes with them.
- Familiarity with embedded compute platforms, and comfort working from datasheets and reference designs.

## Nice to Have
- Direct FCC, CE, or EMC compliance experience, including lab engagement and pre-scan debugging.
- Thermal design experience for compute-dense enclosures.
- NPI or manufacturing experience with overseas contract manufacturers.
- Exposure to on-device AI, inference accelerators, or edge compute.

## Why This Role
On a team this size, the EE owns the electrical story for the whole product. The problems are real, the feedback loop is short, and you’ll ship the product you help build into the hands of thousands within the year.

## Logistics
This is an hybrid role in Venice, California. The compensation is a $120,000 base salary. Standard benefits apply.
