Location: Hybrid in Oakland
Key Responsibilities
Develop and review electronic schematics and PCB/PCA designs using Altium and other CAD tools.
Create and optimize analog and digital circuit designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability.
Collaborate with firmware engineers to define hardwaresoftware interfaces and support Nordic firmware development and C/C++ driver development.
Perform prototype bring-up, debugging, and validation testing; characterize circuits and resolve hardware issues.
Define and implement fabrication-ready PCB layouts, DFM/DFT guidelines, and BOM management for volume assembly.
Develop and maintain clear design documentation, schematics, layout notes, and test procedures.
Work with suppliers and fabrication partners to qualify components, PCBs, and assemblies; coordinate design for fabrication and assembly.
Run signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC/EMI analyses and implement mitigation strategies.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and cross-functional project planning to meet cost, schedule, and quality targets.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
3+ years of professional experience in electronic hardware design, including schematic capture and PCB/PCA design.
Strong experience with Altium Designer or equivalent PCB CAD tools.
Proven background in analog circuit design (power management, sensors, amplifiers) and digital circuit design (microcontrollers, peripherals, interfaces).
Hands-on experience with Nordic SoCs and firmware development, including C/C++ and driver development.
Familiarity with fabrication processes, DFM/DFT practices, PCB stack-up design, and working with fabrication houses.
Experience with prototype bring-up, lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers), and debugging methodologies.
Knowledge of EMC/EMI considerations, signal and power integrity, and regulatory compliance processes.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project milestones.
Preferred: experience with embedded firmware toolchains, version control, and automated test frameworks; prior involvement in product qualification and production handoff.
