Role Overview

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and development of advanced lithium-ion battery systems, including Battery Management Systems (BMS) and Battery Monitoring Units (BMU). The role involves electrical architecture design, schematic development, PCB layout support, protection circuit design, component selection, testing, validation and troubleshooting for battery packs used in EV, energy storage and industrial applications. This position is suitable for candidates who want to build a strong career in BESS, lithium-ion battery systems, BMS design, power electronics and clean-energy product development.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop electrical architecture for lithium-ion battery packs, BMS and BMU systems.
Create schematics, wiring diagrams and PCB layouts for battery electronics.
Develop and validate battery protection circuits such as over-voltage, under-voltage, thermal protection, and short-circuit protection.
Work on cell balancing techniques, including passive and active balancing.
Select and integrate components such as MOSFETs, sensors, microcontrollers and communication interfaces.
Interface with embedded systems using CAN, UART, SPI and I2C communication protocols.
Perform electrical calculations, simulations and design analysis.
Support prototyping, testing and validation of battery systems.
Troubleshoot electrical issues during product development and production stages.
Ensure design compliance with applicable IEC, UL and automotive standards.
Prepare technical documentation, design records and datasheets.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Timely completion of electrical design, schematic and PCB-related deliverables.
Accuracy and reliability of battery protection circuit design.
Successful support in prototype development, testing and validation.
Reduction in design errors, rework and production-stage electrical issues.
Effective troubleshooting and timely closure of technical issues.
Compliance with applicable design standards and documentation requirements.
Quality and completeness of technical documentation, datasheets and design records.

Skills Required

Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery technologies and battery systems.
Experience in BMS, BMU or power electronics design.
Knowledge of schematic design and PCB tools such as Altium, OrCAD, KiCad or equivalent.
Understanding of analogue and digital circuit design.
Knowledge of battery protection circuits and power electronics fundamentals.
Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, I2C, SPI and UART.
Strong debugging, problem-solving and technical analysis skills.
Ability to coordinate with embedded, mechanical, production and quality teams.

Preferred Candidate

Candidates with experience in EV battery, lithium-ion battery, BESS, BMS, BMU, power electronics, electrical design or electronics product development will be preferred.
